As the final hours of my week of vacation tick away it’s time to review the goals I set out for gearing up the Shadow Priest. Of the items on the list I wasn’t able to get my Frozen Shadoweave Robe crafted, run MgT regular once or become Revered with the Sha’tar. At the moment I have 8 pieces of Shadowcloth made and there are 12 Primal Water and 4 Netherweb Spider Silk in my bank. At the current rate I should have the robes crafted some time next weekend.
As for the Sha’tar: I was able to get a Mech and Bot run this week which put me just over 5k rep towards Revered. While in the Bot I picked up a pair of Devil-Stitched Leggings and the Incanter’s Robe. Slapping Runed Blood Garnets into all the sockets and a Mystic Spellthread on the pants put my shadow damage around 960ish.
Early in the week I was invited to run Karazhan with a wonderful guild called Fateless. On the first night we cleared all the way through Shade skipping passed Nightbane and Illhoof. The second night we were only able to get down Netherspite. All in all not terribly productive boss-wise, but I made some new friends which is way more important. The run did give me enough badges to purchase an Icon of the Silver Crescent.
Shadowpriest.com is a great resource for learning to Shadow Priest. It’s been helping me round out my Shadow Priest education. One of the things I read about was writing a macro to use available trinkets whenever you cast Vampiric Touch. Something like:
#showtooltip Vampiric Touch
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Vampiric Touch
This pops a trinket, if it’s available, and then casts VT. The two trinkets I’m using both have 15 second durations. This allows me to get a full casting rotation out before it expires. VT also last 15 seconds, so by the time the trinket runs out it’s time to recast VT and hopefully use another trinket.
I also created a macro that uses Inner Focus with my Mind Blast whenever it’s available. This gives you a free Mind Blast that has a 25% greater chance of critting every three minutes. Something like:
#showtooltip Mind Blast
/cast Inner Focus
/cast Mind Blast
As the perfect way to cap my week of gearing we ran Magtheridon’s Layer on Saturday evening. We couldn’t get a full guild run so some of the new friends from Fateless came along to fill out the empty slots. So I grabbed a flask, some weapon oil and some food and headed over to Hellfire Peninsula. The raid one-shotted the big demon quite easily. Glynia got the Crystal Pulse-Staff to put with her healing offset and a nice surprise:
Glynia topped both the damage done chart and the dps done chart (we are Thalia). That’s with her food buff running out during the Mag fight. I also never pulled aggro and died, which was a real fear.
